Shakespeare

Beginning Shakespeare:  The demands of successfully interpreting Shakespeare’s characters and text are fully explored through body, voice and speech. The goal is to develop the actor’s skill to speak the text of Shakespeare authentically, clearly and persuasively and craft a truthful and compelling performance.

Advanced Shakespeare is a continuation of Shakespeare I, delving more deeply into the development of the Bard’s characters, hidden meanings, text clarity and rhythm. More advanced exercises are used to enhance the actor’s emotional life and imagination. A thorough understanding of how to connect and truthfully share Shakespeare’s stories is the major goal of this class. Physical and vocal expression is more fully explored for full productions as well as the audition experience. Actors will receive in depth constructive critiques of monologues and scene work.

This class meets once a week for eight weeks (Level I) or six weeks (Level II). Level II requires completion of Shakespeare I or equivalent.
